Members of St. Ignatius Council 9729 helped make this year’s St. Ignatius Feast Day celebration a tremendous success by preparing and serving a parish barbecue that attracted a large crowd and quickly became one of the highlights of the day.
Blessed with beautiful summer weather, parishioners and guests gathered to enjoy an afternoon of great food, fellowship, and celebration. The centerpiece of the menu was a 100-pound roasted pig, accompanied by 250 hamburgers, 250 hot dogs, homemade potato salad, macaroni salad, and a crowd favorite—pulled pork sandwiches.
The demand for the pulled pork was so great that it sold out quickly, leading many to joke that the council may need to roast two pigs next year.
Throughout the event, Knights worked tirelessly behind the scenes preparing food, packing sandwiches, grilling burgers and hot dogs, serving guests, and keeping everything running smoothly. Their dedication ensured that hundreds of parishioners were fed and able to enjoy the celebration without interruption.
By the end of the day, there was virtually no food left over, a sure sign of both the event’s popularity and the appetite of the crowd. More importantly, the Feast Day celebration once again brought together parish families, friends, and visitors in a spirit of fellowship that reflects the vibrant life of St. Ignatius Parish.
St. Ignatius Council 9729 extends its thanks to all of the volunteers whose hard work and commitment helped make the event such a memorable success.
